Dean Foods Deal Gives DOJ Firepower In Food Fights

Law360 (March 30, 2011, 7:39 PM EDT) -- With the settlement of the U.S. Department of Justice’s antitrust lawsuit against Dean Foods Co. over its acquisition of a Wisconsin milk processing plant, the agency has not only racked up its first win in a merger challenge under the Obama administration, it has also acquired new ammunition in its fight against anti-competitive practices in the agriculture industry, experts say.
