QBE Sued Over Refusal To Cover Wilma Damage

Law360, New York (March 31, 2011, 3:08 PM EDT) -- A condominium association slapped QBE Insurance Corp. with a suit Wednesday in Florida over allegedly unfair and deceptive insurance practices stemming from its failure to cover building damage caused by Hurricane Wilma in 2005.

Miami-based Royal Bahamian Association Inc. already won a $4.4 million breach of contract suit against QBE in November, and is now seeking punitive and exemplary damages against the insurer to dissuade QBE from continuing its routinely unfair treatment of policyholders, according to a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the...
