SEC Should Abandon Fight For Rule: Survey

Law360, New York (April 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A majority of investors believe that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission should halt its efforts to implement a rule that would exempt certain brokers from regulation, according to a recently published survey.

The survey, conducted by investment advisor Zero Alpha and released on Thursday, shows that of the investors surveyed, 90% believe that the SEC should not appeal a March 30 decision that struck down a rule that would have exempted brokers working on fee-based accounts from federal regulation.
