Hartford Can't Dodge $10M Student Loan Bond Suit

Law360, New York (April 1, 2011, 12:53 PM EDT) -- Hartford Fire Insurance Co. lost its bid Thursday to nix a lawsuit brought by Royal Indemnity Co. over $10 million in bond coverage related to criminal wrongdoing by employees at a bankrupt student loan company.

Judge Leonard P. Stark of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware denied Hartford's motion for summary judgment, setting up the case for trial. He also granted Royal's motion for partial summary judgment and threw out one of Hartford's affirmative defenses.
