Obama Picks Public Defender For DC Appeals Court

Law360, New York (April 1, 2011, 7:03 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday announced the nomination of an appellate public defense attorney as a judge for the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.

The nominee, Corinne Ann Beckwith, has been an attorney in the appellate division of the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia since 1999, and has been a supervisor in that office since 2009, the White House said in announcing the nomination.

In that role, Beckwith worked on the appeals of indigent defendants convicted of serious criminal offenses.
