Chevron Blames Petroecuador For Amazon Pollution

Law360, New York (April 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chevron Corp. has attempted to shift the blame amid allegations that it dumped billions of gallons of toxic waste in Ecuador, claiming that state-owned oil company Petroecuador is solely responsible for the environmental damage.

Chevron said on Thursday that Petroecuador had failed to fulfill its environmental obligations and said the company’s history of environmental neglect and poor quality operations is “very well documented,” Dow Jones reported.
