FDA To Require Chains To Post Calorie Counts

Law360 (April 1, 2011, 7:32 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Friday it plans to order vending machine operators, chain restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and other food retailers across the country to prominently display calorie and other nutrition information on menus and menu boards.

To comply with the health care overhaul legislation, the FDA proposed two rules that would require calorie disclosure by vending machine operators, chain restaurants and retail food establishments with 20 or more locations under the same name and offering substantially the same menu items.
