Iowa Gov. To Ease EPA Regulation For Utilities

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 6:13 PM EDT) -- Iowa Gov. Terry E. Branstad said Monday that he will ease an environmental rule for utility companies as part of his administration's effort to lift the regulatory burden on business in the state.

The Republican governor said he will sign Executive Order 72 to remove regulation requiring utility companies to retrofit backup diesel generators with new parts to limit air pollution.

Branstad, however, said that installing converters is a costly procedure for emergency diesel generators that are rarely used.
