Builder Sues Insurer Over Seattle Subway Debris

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 6:01 PM EDT) -- The general contractor for a Seattle light rail project alleged in Washington state on Monday that its insurer should foot the bill for cleanup costs after environmental authorities determined the contractor improperly disposed of debris during construction.

Obayashi Corp. filed its lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, alleging American International Specialty Lines Insurance Co. should indemnify it under several pollution liability policies, which have a $5 million limit.
