Jennie-O Recalls 55K Pounds Of Turkey Burgers

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 3:51 PM EDT) -- Jennie-O Turkey Store Inc., a Minnesota-based subsidiary of Hormel Foods Corp., is recalling 54,960 pounds of frozen turkey burgers that may be contaminated with salmonella, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Friday.

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is investigating at least 12 cases of salmonella around the U.S. between December and March.

Three patients in Colorado, Ohio and Wisconsin specifically said that they consumed Jennie-O turkey burgers before falling ill, according to the FSIS. The latest illness was reported on March 14.
