CDC Must Clarify Lead Risks In DC Tap Water: GAO

Law360 (April 4, 2011, 4:49 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Monday told the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to explain a report that understated lead levels in Washington tap water, following a congressional inquiry blasting the agency for using unreliable data.

The GAO recommended that the CDC publish a comprehensive overview of lead exposure through tap water and explain the health risks it poses to children — a move that would correct inaccuracies and omissions in a 2004 article on elevated lead levels in Washington tap water.
