Fast-Track Patent Filings To Start In May: USPTO

Law360, New York (April 4, 2011, 6:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said Monday it would start accepting bids for higher-priority patent application review in early May as part of an effort to speed up patent pendency.

The program, called Track One, will begin May 4 and allow inventors and companies to ask for their patent applications to be handled within a year, a third of the average time it currently takes the USPTO to process a new filing.
