Enviro Groups Challenge BLM On Powder River Basin

Law360 (April 5, 2011, 6:12 PM EDT) -- Three environmental groups sued the federal Bureau of Land Management on Monday over its refusal to recertify the Powder River Basin as a coal production region, claiming a lack of monitoring in the region would have a catastrophic environmental effect.

The suit, filed by Wildearth Guardians, Sierra Club and Defenders of Wildlife in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, also named U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar as a defendant.
