Cargolux, British Airways Fined $5.8M For Cartel Roles

Law360 (April 5, 2011, 4:18 PM EDT) -- Cargolux Airlines International SA and British Airways PLC were penalized NZ$7.6 million ($5.8 million) on Tuesday over allegations brought by New Zealand's competition regulator that they had participated in an air cargo cartel.

In March, New Zealand’s Commerce Commission revealed that it had reached settlements with the two carriers pending court approval.

On Tuesday, the High Court of New Zealand ordered Cargolux to pay NZ$6 million in penalties and NZ$25,000 in costs, while British Airways was told to pay NZ$1.6 million and NZ$100,000 in costs, according...
