Labor Deal Pushes US-Colombia Trade Pact Forward

Law360 (April 6, 2011, 2:09 PM EDT) -- Colombia has agreed to a plan to address U.S. concerns about labor issues in the country, clearing the way for Congress to consider the pending U.S.-Colombia free trade agreement, U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said Wednesday.

In a conference call with reporters, Kirk said that once Colombia takes certain steps outlined in the plan, the Obama administration will begin working with Congress on legislation to implement the long-stalled trade pact.
