J&J Unit Sues St. Jude Medical Unit Over Medical Device Patents

Law360, New York (October 16, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Johnson & Johnson unit Biosense Webster, Inc. has sued a newly acquired subsidiary of medical device maker St. Jude Medical Inc. for infringement of patents covering the diagnostic mapping of arrhythmias.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, alleges that Endocardial Solutions’ EnSite(R) mapping and navigation system, including its EnSite NavX surface electrode product, infringe “certain Biosense Webster patents,” Endocardial said in a statement.

The lawsuit seeks monetary damages and injunctive relief, Endocardial said.
