Flood Insurance Revamp Clears 1st House Hurdle

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 12:04 PM EDT) -- A House subcommittee voted Wednesday to advance legislation to reauthorize and reform the National Flood Insurance Program, in hopes of helping to stabilize the program and increase private-sector participation in the flood insurance market.

H.R. 1309, the Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2011, was ordered reported by a voice vote from the House Financial Services subcommittee on insurance, housing and community opportunity, chaired by the bill's author, Rep. Judy Biggert, R-Ill.
