Italian Watchdog Calls For Reforms To Unbundling Law

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 1:30 PM EDT) -- Italy's antitrust watchdog warned lawmakers Thursday that their efforts to implement the latest European Union energy unbundling regulation still needed revisions to encourage competition among electricity and natural gas providers.

In particular, the government should increase independent supervision of energy companies' efforts to unbundle their distribution networks, improve conditions for smaller customers to access energy storage facility and clarify the rules covering competition in the retail side of the distribution markets, according to the Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato.
