Alcon Sues Watson Over Vigamox Patents

Law360, New York (April 7, 2011, 4:55 PM EDT) -- Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. sued Watson Laboratories Inc. in Delaware on Thursday over its move to sell a generic version of Vigamox, the latest move in the Swiss drugmaker's battle to protect its patents on the blockbuster anti-bacterial eye drop.

Alcon, which holds an exclusive license from German pharmaceutical giant Bayer Healthcare AG on two patents covering Vigamox, launched the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware over Watson's filing of an abbreviated new drug application.
