AIG Unit Can't Dodge Adviser Contract Suit: Judge

Law360, New York (April 8, 2011, 6:55 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge on Friday threw out one of four claims in investment advisor Scott & Stringfellow LLC’s suit over an American International Group Inc. unit’s alleged failure to pay a contractually mandated fee on a $400 million municipal asset sale.

Judge Henry Hudson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia kept the case alive, but cut Scott & Stringfellow’s claim that AIG Commercial Equipment Finance Inc. and its parent schemed to misappropriate the investment adviser’s services.
