Varnish Maker, Tenn. Homeowners Settle CWA Suit

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 4:55 PM EDT) -- A group of Tennessee property owners on Friday settled its suit accusing varnish maker Egyptian Lacquer Manufacturing Co. of allowing toxic chemicals to contaminate soil and local waterways.

Judge John Bryant of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee approved a joint stipulation of dismissal by five Franklin, Tenn., homeowners and Egyptian Lacquer, bringing the citizen suit to a close after more than 18 months of negotiations.
