Berkshire's $9B Lubrizol Buy Wins FTC Approval

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 2:29 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Friday greenlighted Berkshire Hathaway Inc.'s $9 billion purchase of engine lubricant maker Lubrizol Corp., clearing the deal less than a month after it was announced.

The FTC granted Berkshire early termination of the customary 30-day antitrust review, finding that the all-cash transaction announced March 14 poses no threat to competition in the relevant markets.
