Ala. Power Asks 11th Circ. To Block Air Quality Rule

Law360 (April 12, 2011, 9:31 PM EDT) -- The Alabama Power Co. on Friday asked the Eleventh Circuit to block changes the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection made last week to air quality standards that would limit the amount of pollutants the state's coal-fired power plants can emit.

The utility filed a petition in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit seeking to stop the EPA from deleting a 2008 state implementation plan that eased the method for measuring pollutants. Alabama Power is also seeking to consolidate its petition with another related...
