Reps Back Limits On EU's Ability To Nix Bilateral Pacts

Law360, New York (April 13, 2011, 4:03 PM EDT) -- The European Parliament should limit the European Union's power to review and withdraw member nations' bilateral investment treaties, according to a report narrowly passed by a committee of lawmakers Wednesday.

Under a July proposal from the European Commission, all EU nations would have to notify their existing investment treaties to the regulator in order to receive approval to keep those trade deals in place.
