Medical Supplier Gets 6 Months For Hussein Kickbacks

Law360, New York (April 13, 2011, 3:53 PM EDT) -- A British supplier of medical goods to Iraq was handed a six-month prison term in a U.K. court Wednesday for handing Saddam Hussein's government illegal kickbacks through contracts won in the United Nations' Oil-For-Food program in violation of U.N. sanctions.

Mark Jessop was sentenced in Southwark Crown Court in London to the 24-week prison term and ordered to pay £150,000 ($244,000) to the Development Fund for Iraq and another £25,000 ($40,700) in prosecution costs, the U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office said Wednesday.
