EU Unveils Details Of Universal Patent System

Law360, New York (April 13, 2011, 4:35 PM EDT) -- The European Commission on Wednesday presented details of a plan to reduce costs of patent applications in the European Union by creating a single patent system that would be valid in 25 EU countries.

The commission said it was still considering ways to address a March 8 ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union, which held that a planned European Patent Court, intended to litigate disputes over a single patent, would violate EU law.
