DOI Begins New Survey Of Oil Shale, Tar Sands Plans

Law360 (April 13, 2011, 6:23 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior on Wednesday began a re-examination of commercial oil shale and tar sands plans developed during the administration of former President George W. Bush, following through on a commitment the agency made earlier this year.

The DOI’s Bureau of Land Management said it would begin assessing the environmental impact of the allocation of oil shale and tar sand resources on federal land in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming.
