Updated Chemical Safety Bill Unveiled In Senate

Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., on Thursday introduced a revised version of chemical safety legislation, amended in an attempt to boost public health and environmental protections and reflect a more risk-based approach to prioritize regulation of the most toxic substances made, imported and sold in the U.S.

The Safe Chemicals Act of 2011 would make changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 to give the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency authority to regulate a far broader range of potentially toxic chemicals found in everyday household products....
