Food Industry Urges Flexibility In Safety Regs

Law360 (April 20, 2011, 8:34 PM EDT) -- In a public hearing Wednesday on the implementation of a sweeping food safety law, industry representatives urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to allow facilities to have power over the measures they use to prevent food contamination.

The FDA invited various stakeholders, including the American Frozen Food Institute and the American Feed Industry Association, to weigh in on how the agency should implement the Food Safety Modernization Act, a new law that aims to prevent food contamination rather than just respond to outbreaks.
