UK Court Strikes Down Infosint Patent In Citalopram Suit

Law360, New York (April 14, 2011, 7:46 PM EDT) -- A London court on Thursday invalidated an Infosint SA patent covering an intermediate compound used in Danish drugmaker H. Lundbeck A/S' antidepressant Citalopram, handing Lundbeck a victory in its bid to revoke the patent.

Justice Christopher Floyd of the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, ruled that claims 1 and 22 of the disputed Infosint patent — European Patent (UK) 1 118 614 — are invalid for obviousness over two papers authored by a Mobil Chemical Co. scientist, despite rejecting Lundbeck's bid to invalidate the patent...
