Michael Foods Sues Rival Over Pasteurization Patent

Law360, New York (April 18, 2011, 5:28 PM EDT) -- Michael Foods Inc. sued competitor National Pasteurized Eggs Inc. in Minnesota on Friday for allegedly infringing three patents with its method of pasteurizing eggs in their shells in a water bath.

The suit claims that National Pasteurized Eggs Inc. infringes U.S. Patent Numbers 6,004,603; 6,303,176; and 6,974,599 with its pasteurization method of putting "farm-fresh eggs through a giant all-natural water bath for just under one hour," according to the complaint.
