Money Manager Can't Unfreeze Assets In Fraud Case

Law360, New York (April 18, 2011, 1:21 PM EDT) -- A money manager who was already ordered to disgorge $3.8 million lost a bid Monday to unfreeze his assets in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suit over an alleged securities fraud scheme in Minnesota that spawned parallel criminal proceedings.

John W. Lawton's arguments that the court hadn't established jurisdiction over the matter were "unavailing" because he acquiesced to the court's jurisdiction in other court documents, ruled Judge Ann D. Montgomery of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
