US Cracks Down On Prescription Drug Abuse

Law360 (April 19, 2011, 7:55 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration on Tuesday unveiled a plan to combat prescription drug abuse by requiring drugmakers to increase warnings about opioids like OxyContin and introducing new legislation to make additional training mandatory for doctors.

The White House issued the action plan after the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Health and Human Services, and numerous other federal agencies collaborated to create a framework for preventing prescription drug abuse through education and new regulations.
