AMD, Former SGI Settle Animation Tech Patent Suit

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 7:07 PM EDT) -- Graphics Properties Holdings Inc., formerly known as Silicon Graphics Inc., on Thursday settled its patent infringement suit in Wisconsin against Advanced Micro Devices Inc. over computerized animation technology used in popular films

GPHI and AMD entered a stipulation of dismissal with the court, but provided no details of their April 18 settlement agreement.

Silicon Graphics first filed suit against AMD and its unit ATI Technologies Inc. in October 2006, claiming the company's Radeon graphics processors used in personal computers infringed one of its patents.
