AEP Strikes $27M Deal Over Fatal Power Plant Fire

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 5:48 PM EDT) -- Two American Electric Power Co. Inc. units and two other companies reached a $27 million deal Wednesday to end a suit in West Virginia state court over a power plant blaze that entrapped three workers and killed a fourth.

AEP Ohio, American Electric Power Service Corp., Pullman Power LLC and Ershigs Inc. reached the settlement with two of the three trapped workers and the widow of the deceased worker after the plaintiffs made their opening statements at trial, the plaintiffs' lawyer confirmed Monday.
