ITC Nixes Murata Patent In Samsung Capacitor Fight

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 5:47 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission ruled Friday that part of a Murata Manufacturing Co. capacitor patent asserted against Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. Ltd. was invalid, upholding a decision that the South Korean electronics company had not infringed its rival's patent.

Samsung's imported capacitors are used in a bevy of popular electronics ranging from cell phones to flat-screen televisions.
