Iowa City Pays $3M To Settle CWA Case

Law360, New York (April 25, 2011, 5:25 PM EDT) -- Dubuque, Iowa, agreed Monday to spend $3 million to improve its water pollution plant and sewer system as part of a settlement with the state and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over alleged Clean Water Act violations.

Along with undertaking those improvements during the next three years, Dubuque, a city of about 92,000 residents along the Mississippi River, will also pay $205,000 for violations that include sanitary sewer overflows, exceeding certain effluent limits in its national pollution discharge elimination system permit and pretreatment program failures, according...
