AOP Sues Engineers Over Failed $18M Fracking Facility

Law360, New York (April 26, 2011, 2:31 PM EDT) -- Appalachian Oil Purchasers Inc. sued an engineering firm Monday for breach of contract over a failed $18 million facility intended to recycle fracking fluids used in West Virginia natural gas wells, saying the engineers provided faulty designs and materials.

MSES Consultants Inc. designed and oversaw construction of a facility in Fairmont, W.Va., to purify, recycle and dispose of brine solutions used in hydraulic fracturing of natural gas wells, but breached its agreement with AOP by failing to provide complete designs before work began and recommending a...
