BLM Aims To Fast-Track Renewable Energy Projects

Law360 (April 27, 2011, 7:49 PM EDT) -- The Bureau of Land Management proposed a new rule Tuesday that would fast-track renewable energy projects in the West by exempting them from challenges under a law that gives citizens the right to mine publicly owned lands.

The rule would make it easier for agencies or companies seeking to launch solar and wind energy projects to obtain the proper clearances needed, including a right-of-way authorization administered by the BLM, by exempting them from claims brought under the General Mining Act of 1872.
