Employment, IP Lawyers Will Feel Alt Fee Heat

Law360, New York (April 27, 2011, 7:48 PM EDT) -- Now that in-house lawyers have gained ground in scoring alternative fee agreements for litigation and deals, firms anticipate clients will balk at the billable hour for labor and intellectual property work, a new survey of firm leaders and corporate counsel says.

More than 87 percent of AmLaw 200 firm leaders surveyed expect their use of alternative fee arrangements for labor and employment to increase over the next 12 months, the 2011 Facts About Alternative Fees report by The BTI Consulting Group (Wellesley, Mass.) said.
