EU Aims To Improve Cooperation In Merger Reviews

Law360, New York (April 28, 2011, 6:29 PM EDT) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog published proposed guidelines Thursday designed to improve cooperation and information-sharing among national competition regulators during merger reviews.

The draft best practices, which are now open for public consultation until May 27, are meant to ease the review process for transactions that require separate competition approvals from several national regulators, but are not wide-reaching enough to qualify for an EU-wide analysis, according to the European Commission.
