Chrysler Says It Will Repay $7.5B In US, Canada Loans

Law360, New York (April 28, 2011, 9:07 PM EDT) -- Chrysler Group LLC announced Thursday that it will repay in full the $7.5 billion it owes to the U.S. and Canadian governments from the 2009 bailout that saved the Detroit automaker from collapse.

The move comes less than two years after Chrysler exited bankruptcy under the management of Italian automaker Fiat SpA. It marks a big step for the company that Chrysler and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne hopes will translate into greater market share.
