OUII To Reduce Role In ITC 337 Cases

Law360, New York (May 3, 2011, 3:00 PM EDT) -- In a cost-saving move, the U.S. International Trade Commission announced Monday that the Office of Unfair Import Investigations, which acts as an independent third party in ITC intellectual property investigations, would no longer participate in every case.

In a Federal Register notice, the ITC said it is adopting a rule that will implement a new staffing approach in which the OUII will generally participate only in Section 337 investigations that draw upon its specific expertise, rather than playing a role in nearly all cases.
