House Hears Testimony On RESPECT Act

Law360 (May 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Labor leaders and charge nurses pushed for legislation Tuesday that would overturn the so-called Kentucky River decision, saying it has allowed hospitals to assign nurses just enough supervisory duties to stop them from organizing.

At a hearing of a House Committee on Education and Labor subcommittee, various witnesses and members of Congress expressed their support for the RESPECT Act, which, if passed, would amend the National Labor Relations Act to define supervisors as spending the majority of the workday in a supervisory capacity.
