Law360, New York (May 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A potential $17.5 billion merger between Thomson Corp. and Reuters Group PLC is likely to draw heavy regulatory scrutiny and spur a debate about how to accurately define this emerging market of financial information providers, experts say.

The proposed union between the Canadian Thomson and British Reuters, announced on Tuesday, is viewed as a marriage between the only two rivals challenging the dominant player in the game, Bloomberg LP.
