Lexington Sued For Coverage Of Troubled Salt Mine

Law360, New York (May 5, 2011, 5:12 PM EDT) -- Lyons Salt Co. sued Chartis Inc. unit Lexington Insurance Co. in Kansas on Thursday seeking coverage over severe water penetration problems at a salt mine that could cost $11 million to investigate and fix.

Lyons and BSC Holding Inc. contend that they are owed coverage for losses under six commercial property policies that were issued by Lexington and in effect from March 2004 to April 2010, but the insurer has so far refused to concede coverage and has clung to a reservation of rights.
