Actress Sues Mattel Over 'Beverly Hillbillies' Barbie

Law360, New York (May 5, 2011, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The actress who played Elly May Clampett on "The Beverly Hillbillies" filed a lawsuit in Louisiana on Wednesday accusing Mattel Inc. of using her name and likeness without permission to market an “Elly May” Barbie doll.

Donna Douglas, who portrayed Elly May in all 274 episodes of the classic television series, claims Mattel has engaged in unauthorized uses of her name, likeness and image, as well as the distinctive attributes of her performance as the character, in its effort to promote the recently introduced doll....
