UK Taps New Antitrust Chief Amid Agency Merger Plans

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 6:10 PM EDT) -- The U.K.'s business chief on Friday tapped Roger Witcomb, the Competition Commission's second-in-command, to take over for the departing chairman amid efforts to merge the agency with the country's other antitrust enforcer.

Witcomb, who joined the commission's board in 2009 and has served as its deputy chair since January, will become interim chair of the agency for two years starting Saturday, U.K. Business Secretary Vince Cable said Friday.
