Business Bankruptcies Fall 11%, Other Filings Rise

Law360, New York (May 6, 2011, 3:52 PM EDT) -- Business bankruptcies fell in the yearlong period ending in March after several years of steep increases, while overall bankruptcies continued to rise, according to government data released Friday.

New bankruptcy filings involving predominately business debts fell 11 percent for the yearlong period ending March 31, 2011, compared with the same period ending March 31, 2010, to a total of 54,212 from 61,148, according to statistics released by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.
