Farmer Groups Press Lawmakers On Trade Pacts

Law360, New York (May 12, 2011, 5:25 PM EDT) -- Trade associations for wheat farmers, corn growers and beef and pork producers urged lawmakers Thursday to quickly review and implement pending free trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia, saying the deals promised big benefits for U.S. agriculture.

At a hearing Thursday before the House Committee on Agriculture, the trade associations were joined by U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who said the free trade agreements would generate additional jobs for U.S. workers.
